"This is my way of wrapping!"
―Mary

Mary is one of Momoko's American friends from New York City.

Bio[]

Appearance[]

Mary closely resembles Reika physically, having the same blonde hair and style, although her bangs consist of a single, curving strand rather than a few small hairs. She also has aquamarine, downward slanted eyes. Initially, she can be seen wearing an indigo T-shirt beneath a pastel turquoise dress and shoes.

When Momoko meets up with her friends again, she is shown wearing a purple collared shirt with buttons and a white skirt paired with pale pink socks and shoes.

Personality[]

Like Reika, Mary appeared to be very self-centered and snobby, but unlike her, she dealt with her true feelings of loneliness by bullying others and making them feel horrible. She struggled to open herself up to others, easily becoming flustered and unsure of how to handle herself. She remains the mature and cool-minded one in the group.

History[]

Mary and Momoko attended elementary school together in New York City.

Ojamajo Doremi Na-i-sho![]

During an annual baking bazaar held at their school, Mary and two other girls had presented brownies as an entry for a contest. Mary boasted that she had made the recipe and taught the two girls in her group how to make them. Their entry only narrowly beat Momoko and Beth's brownies by several votes. However, she accidentally blurts out that her brownies weren't being made anymore in France. All of her classmates including the two girls on her team turn on her for having cheated, and the teacher decides to disqualify Mary's group and gives the win to Momoko and Beth.

Later during lunch break, some of the students discussed baking more brownies for another project. Bob, Lynn, and Beth are put in charge of the kitchen. Mary speaks up, offering to let them use her kitchen at her house since it was quite large, but the others dismissed her, and giggled as she stormed off.

Momoko and her friends finish making the brownies at Majo Monroe's Maho-dou, but Momoko didn't want to leave Mary out and convinced the others to meet up with her. They arrive outside her house as Mary was moping in her bedroom. Singing their own parody of "Mary Had a Little Lamb", the others lure her outside out of annoyance.

Mary sighs in disappointment at Maho-dou when she sees the brownies had already been finished. Momoko assures her that they still need her help because they still needed to individually wrap each brownie. One of the girls commented that Mary was the only one who could wrap the brownies up as nicely as she had previously done for the ones she entered in the baking bazaar. Mary accepts their request and happily teaches them.

Motto! Ojamajo Doremi[]

Momoko moved back to Japan with her parents. Mary, who didn't properly get to say "goodbye", wrote a letter to Momoko. In her letter, Mary apologized for not having said anything the day Momoko left as well as for having been such a bully. Mary expressed that she was jealous of Momoko for having many friends and she didn't have any. The letter ended with best wishes that Momoko would make many new friends in Japan.

Realizing that she was mistaken about Mary, Momoko changed her opinion and later in Ojamajo Doremi Na-i-sho met up with Mary, Beth, and Sachiko in Central Park in New York City. The two reconciled and all four girls played together on a merry-go-round.

Trivia[]
